Amnesty International Ireland is calling on the Taoiseach to follow in France's footsteps and accept Guantanamo detainees into Ireland.

A detainee arrived in France from the prison camp yesterday.

Earlier this year the Government indicated that Ireland would be willing to accommodate detainees.

Amnesty Programme Director Noeleen Hartigan said Ireland should offer protection to the men at Guantanamo.
