Three tribunals to cost State up to €366m
A study by the State's spending watchdog has found that the Mahon, Moriarty and Morris tribunals are likely to cost a total of up to €366m.
The Comptroller and Auditor General, John Buckley, says the tribunals have all lasted much longer than was anticipated at the time of their inception.
He says there is a need to make tribunal costs more predictable and transparent in the future.
The Mahon and Moriarty tribunals will have lasted more than 12 years by the time they are completed, while the Morris tribunal has extended over seven years.
