A Cork woman says she is considering taking legal action after her teenage son died as a result of an MRSA infection.

Seventeen-year-old Brian Daly, from Skibbereen, died last October at Bantry General Hospital.

He had been transferred there after major surgery at the Mater Hospital in Dublin.

An inquest found that he died from a hospital-acquired infection, but it is not known for certain where he contracted the bug.

His mother, Carmel, says she does not want to blame anyone for her son's death, but wants accountability in relation to what happened to him.
