Court fines to be payable online
The Courts Services hopes to save almost €3m a year by implementing a new system that will allow people to pay fines online.
The launch of the new electronic system will allow all fees and family law payments to be dealt with over the internet and it’s estimated that it could improve collection rates by up to 5%.
The Director of Finance for the Courts Service, Sean Quigley, said the system would be much more convenient for customers.
He said it would be particularly effective in helping to deal with the large volume of family law payments, which are made directly into people’s bank accounts.
Under the scheme, people will be issued with pin and case verification numbers, which will allow them to log onto the website to process their payments.
