NI Victims Commission to hold first public meeting

The North's Commission for Victims and Survivors is due to hold the first in a series of public meetings in Co Antrim tonight.

Members of the public in Ballymena will be given an opportunity to put forward their ideas on the new body's programme of work.

The commission has four members - each earning a full salary of UK£65,000 (€82,000) - following the failure of Sinn Fein and the DUP to agree on one candidate.

The body has already attracted controversy, with some victims groups opposed to the appointment of Patricia McBride, the sister of an IRA man shot dead by the British Army.
