Donegal islanders to vote on Lisbon Treaty today
The first votes in the Lisbon Treaty referendum will be cast today on islands off the Donegal coast.
The isolated islands are getting to vote three days before voters in the rest of the country get to have their say on the document.
Both the yes and No sides are stepping up their campaigns today in a final bid to gain support.
Opinion polls show the gap between the two sides is still too close to call, with large numbers of voters still undecided.
The leaders of Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Labour will be holding a joint press conference in Dublin today to push for a Yes vote.
On the No side, meanwhile, Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams will be canvassing in Limerick city, while Tony Gregory, Senator David Norris, Dr Jerry Crowley and Patricia McKenna will attend the final press conference of the anti-Lisbon group The People's Movement.
