Labour launch plan to reform HSE
The Labour Party has launched a six-point plan to reform the Health Service Executive, which it claims has become a 'bureaucratic Frankenstein'.
Labour's 'The Road to Recovery' includes a redundancy, early retirement plan and local budget control.
The party has said the Minister for Health should be more accountable and the Secretary General of the Department of Health should be the Accounting Officer of the HSE.
Labour leader Eamon Gilmore has described the HSE as ill-conceived, ill-executed, with confused lines of authority and in need of serious change.
