The Court of Criminal Appeal has doubled the prison sentence imposed on a Limerick man who admitted possessing a rifle with a telescopic sight attached and ammunition after finding that the original sentence of two years was unduly lenient.

The Court of Criminal Appeal has doubled the prison sentence imposed on a Limerick man who admitted possessing a rifle with a telescopic sight attached and ammunition after finding that the original sentence of two years was unduly lenient.

Last year at Limerick Circuit Court Peter O'Brien (aged 22), Delmege Park, Moyross, Limerick, pleaded guilty to possession of a Remington Bolt Action Precision Rifle and 11 rounds of ammunition following a garda search of his house on September 30, 2006 at Delmege Park, Moyross, Limerick.
