Gardaí in Bray have launched an investigation following the discovery of human remains at the side of Bray Head, Co Wicklow, at 4pm today.

Gardaí in Bray have launched an investigation following the discovery of human remains at the side of Bray Head, Co Wicklow, at 4pm today.

The skeletal remains were discovered by a passer by in thick undergrowth around 100m from a nearby car park.

An initial examination by a doctor indicates that the remains are those of an elderly adult.

The body will remain at the scene until tomorrow morning when it will be examined by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis.

The identity and gender of the remains have yet to be established.
