An EU committee has said emissions from an adjacent brick factory are probably causing the problems at a Castlecomer farm where trees have died, cattle are sick and milk production is low.

Despite the phenomenon, the Environmental Protection Agency has continued to licence the Cement Roadstone Holdings plant.

The IFA says the EPA and the Department of Agriculture have never made a genuine effort to find out the cause of the problems.
