Court freezes £3m assets of Lisburn drug trafficker

The North's Assets Recovery Agency has frozen property worth almost £3m (€4m) which it claims is the proceeds of major crime.

The property and other assets belong to Nicky Cheung, from Lisburn in Co Antrim, who has two convictions for drug trafficking.

He is also accused of involvement in fraud and tax evasion.

The ARA says Mr Cheung used the proceeds of these crimes to build up a substantial property portfolio including houses and apartments in central Belfast, Lisburn, Hillsborough and Moira.

The agency has now secured a court order freezing these properties, as well as 40 bank and credit-card accounts and two luxury Porsche and BMW cars.
