Gardaí have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the use of two stolen blank bank drafts during private car sales in Meath and Dublin.

The drafts were taken during a robbery in July at the Ulster Bank in Cloghran, Co Dublin, when cash and a quantity of blank bank drafts were stolen.

Between August 8 and 10, two of these drafts surfaced as payment to unsuspecting people who were selling their cars privately through a newspaper ad.

Gardaí are appealing for information and warning the public to exercise caution when accepting payment from individuals unknown to them who present such drafts.
