Ahern backs new joint policing committees to tackle violent crime

The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has said he believes the new joint policing committees being set up around the country are the way forward when it comes to dealing with crime.

Bertie Ahern was responding to the Archbishop of Dublin, who said the government should organise a summit of community leaders in a bid to address the roots of violence.
