Award winning writer to speak at book fest
Award-winning writer John Banville will be among the highlights at this year’s World Book Fest launched in Cork today.
Minister for Trade, Enterprise and Employment Michael Martin will officially open the festival outside the City Library.
Book lovers will be treated to readings with world-class writers, bookstalls, music and quality food stalls as well as an electric atmosphere.
Street-poet and playwright Lemn Sissay and Portuguese writer Rui Zink will be appearing at the three-day celebration which runs until Monday.
Events will take place on Grand Parade; Bishop Lucey Park; City Library and Triskel after the launch at noon.
Book stalls will line the streets and there will also be a corner for children to sit and read.
A selection of organic meats, breads and potatoes, smoothies and juices will be on sale for those who work up a hunger.
