Taxpayers may face €100m bill for high-tech Dáil chamber
Taxpayers are reportedly facing a possible €100m bill to build new chambers for the Dáil and Seanad.
Reports this morning say proposals have been put forward that would see the current chambers used only for ceremonial purposes and new high-tech facilities constructed for day-to-day business.
The idea has emerged following consultations between the Office of Public Works and the House of the Oireachtas Commission.
Opposition politicians are describing it as waste of public money given the investment needed in many areas of society.
