People urged to look out for elderly during cold spell

Age Action Ireland is urging people across the country to look out for their elderly neighbours and relatives during the current cold spell.

The group says older people are at increased risk of heart attacks, strokes and respiratory problems during the freezing conditions, especially due to inadequate heating and "fuel poverty".
