15th case of swamp fever detected in Irish horses
The Department of Agriculture has confirmed the detection of another case of equine infectious anaemia, also known as swamp fever.
The case is the 15th to be discovered in Ireland in recent weeks, the first known outbreak of the disease in the country.
The department is advising the RDS to ensure that international horses are kept separate from Irish animals to prevent the spread of the infection at the Dublin Horse Show, which gets underway today.
