Thousands of people are paying their last respects to former Taoiseach Charles Haughey at Our Lady of Consolation Church in the Donnycarney area of north Dublin today.

The 80-year-old's remains are lying in repose at the church ahead of his full State funeral tomorrow.

The public is being allowed to file past the former Taoiseach's remains until 4pm, with mourners being asked to refrain from taking photographs.

Thousands of people have already arrived to pay their respects, including a number of former and current TDs.

Among these was former Fianna Fáil TD Beverley Flynn, who is from Mr Haughey's home town of Castlebar in Co Mayo.

Five hundred dignitaries have been invited to a special mass in Donnycarney at 5pm and to tomorrow's funeral Mass, with the remaining 1,500 seats reserved for members of the public.

Special television screens will also be erected outside in anticipation of large crowds of mourners.

Mr Haughey is due to be buried in Sutton after a full state funeral led by the Taoiseach and the President.
