Garda representatives want input in new code of conduct

The Garda Representative Association has said it hopes it will have some input into a new code of conduct for the Force.

Yesterday, the Minster for Justice Michael McDowell announced that he was planning to introduce new disciplinary regulations as well as a "whistleblowers charter".

Dermot O'Donnell from the GRA is calling on the Minister to allow the association to consult with him on the matter.

Talking about the current regulations he said: “We did input on them because they were a conciliation item, and the Garda Commissioner, the Department of Justice and the staff associations did have an input and agreed a set of regulations.

"If they are to be changed, I expect the same procedure to be gone through again.”
