Minister calls for end to unofficial rail dispute
Transport Minister Martin Cullen has appealed for Irish Rail train drivers to return to work.
This comes as an unofficial strike by Irish Rail staff on train lines between Dublin and the South and West nears the end of its second day.
Meanwhile officials from the NBRU and SIPTU are still consulting with drivers near Connolly Station in Dublin before a meeting with mediator Phil Flynn, which is expected to take place later this evening.
Martin Cullen said: "It's very difficult, obviously the other forms of public transport are available."
"Clearly those that use the rail network are happy to do so and my message really to all concerned is to end this unofficial strike immediately and allow the good supporters of public transport and inter-city rail in this country use the new facilities."
