Woman arrested over O'Reilly murder
Gardaí tonight arrested a second person in connection with the investigation into the murder of Rachel O’Reilly.
The woman, who is in her 30s, was arrested at 3.30pm in the Dublin area and taken to Drogheda garda station.
A Garda spokesman said she was being held under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, which means she can be detained for up to 72 hours.
It follows the earlier arrest of a man in Dublin in connection with the murder.
The man is also being detained at Drogheda garda station but under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.
Last year, gardaí exhumed the body of Rachel O’Reilly from Fingal Cemetery as part of their long-running murder investigation.
The 33-year-old mother-of-two was beaten to death in her home in Naul, north Co Dublin in October 2004.
Two men and a woman were arrested over a year ago but no-one has yet been charged.
The inquest into her death was adjourned again today at the County Coroner’s Court in Tallaght in Dublin.
The arrest comes as it emerged that Rachel’s parents may be considering legal action to gain access to their two grandchildren.
It is believed that Jimmy and Rose Callaly have not seen Adam and Luke for up to 10 months because they feel uncomfortable in the company of their son-in-law.
