Man questioned over double murder in North

A 25-year-old man was today being questioned by police about the double murder of two teenagers in Northern Ireland.

He was arrested in Hillsborough, Co Down, by police investigating the stabbing of Andrew Robb, 19, and David McIlwaine, 18, in Tandragee, Co Armagh, in February 2000.

The bodies of both victims, who were from Portadown, were discovered on the Druminure Road outside Tandragee, a few hours after they had left a disco.

Another 25-year-old man arrested yesterday in Coalisland, Co Tyrone, is still being questioned.

A 54-year-old man was released on Sunday after questioning, with a report sent to the Public Prosecution Service.

The vicious attack on the teenagers occurred during a paramilitary feud between the Ulster Volunteer Force and the Loyalist Volunteer Force in Portadown.

However police and the McIlwaine and Robb families have stressed the teenagers were innocent victims.

The arrests followed a reconstruction on the BBC’s Crimewatch programme last week.
