The British government has allocated a further £1.5m (€2.2m) for the Northern Ireland Victims Fund.

The fund was established to promote peace and reconciliation by supporting victims and survivors of the Troubles.

Since 1999, the British government has contributed more than £7m to the fund.

Earlier this week London announced the appointment of a new Victim’s Commissioner, Bertha McDougall, an RUC man's widow, and her role will be to examine the fund's effectiveness.
