Ahern expresses shock at Iran’s hostile comments towards Israel

Foreign Minister Dermot Ahern has said he is “shocked and saddened” at remarks by Iran's president that Israel should be wiped off the map.

The Government told the Iranian Embassy in Dublin that the comments are entirely unacceptable and contribute nothing to relations with the EU.

Israel says Iran should be expelled from the United Nations for calling for the elimination of a fellow member state.
