A woman who was being questioned over the death of a Somalian man whose headless body was found in Dublin’s Royal Canal was today released from Garda custody.

A Garda spokesman said a file was being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The 50-year-old woman was arrested in Co Carlow yesterday, as mother-of-four Linda Mulhall, of Kilclare Gardens in Tallaght, was charged in Dublin District Court with the murder of 38-year-old Farah Swaleh Noor.

Mulhall, 30, was charged with the murder of the Somalian national in March at Richmond Cottages in Ballybough.

Mr Swaleh Noor’s remains were discovered on March 30 in refuse bags dumped in the Royal Canal by a man walking along the Ballybough Road.

His torso, arms and legs were found but, despite extensive searches of the canal, his head is still missing.

It is believed he had been dead for more than a week before the extremely decomposed remains were discovered wrapped in black plastic.

He had been living in Ireland since 1996, and was living in Richmond Cottages off the North Circular Road in Dublin. However, he had a number of addresses throughout the city.
