Labour seeks long-term plan to tackle gangland crime
The Labour Party has called on the Gardaí to draw up a long-term plan to tackle organised crime following the latest gangland killing in Dublin.
Thirty-two-year-old Mark Glennon, a known drug dealer, was shot dead outside his home in the Hartstown area of the city yesterday afternoon.
Labour TD Joe Costello said the killing showed that the Gardaí had failed to crack down on Dublin's drug gangs.
"It seems that the only law that operates (in some areas) is gangland law," he said. "I think that's bad for democracy and it's certainly bad for policing."
