32-year-old man shot dead in latest gangland killing

A 32-year-old father-of-one has become the latest victim of a spate of gangland killings throughout Ireland this year.

Mark Glennon was working outside his house in the Hartstown area of west Dublin yesterday afternoon when he was shot several times in the upper body at point-blank range.

The shooting happened at around 4pm in Hazelwood Crescent.

Reports this morning said the dead man was heavily involved in the drugs trade and was also embroiled in a dispute with another drugs gang.

Mr Glennon, whose younger brother was shot in Clonee, Co Meath, as part of that dispute, had survived another assassination attempt two weeks ago.

This morning's reports said he had long feared for his safety and had installed CCTV and bullet-proof glass at his Hartstown home.
