Man arrested after woman dies in Kildare assault
Gardaí have arrested a 49-year-old man following the fatal stabbing of a woman in Naas, Co Kildare, early this morning.
The 46-year-old victim was found lying on the town's Main Street just after 12.30am by gardaí responding to reports of a fight.
The man in custody was restrained at the scene by a number of bystanders and is being treated at Tallaght Hospital for injuries sustained prior to his arrest.
The scene of the assault has been preserved for technical examination, while a post mortem is due to be carried out on the woman's body later today.
