Mayo Council debates motion on Shell pipeline

Mayo County Council is debating a motion this afternoon calling for the controversial Shell project to be built offshore.

Five men have been in jail for several weeks for obstructing work to the onshore pipeline in the north of the county.

Councillors appear to be divided over the scheme with some supporting the local residents and others backing the Shell project, due to its economic benefits.
