The seven-year-old boy who was separated from his family during a mass deportation of Romanian asylum seekers last week is to be reunited with his family.

Eduardo Covaci was taken on a flight to Bucharest at a 6.45am today.

Eduardo was found by gardaí on Thursday night at his aunt’s house in Co Kerry. He and his family had been living in Tralee for the past three years.

His parents and brother were deported on Wednesday evening with 55 other Romanian asylum seekers in the first mass deportation by the Government since last March.

Two gardaí accompanied Eduardo on his flight to Bucharest this morning.

The Garda National Immigration Bureau say that the boy’s family requested that he be brought to Romania.
