Women's Aid hails ad campaign success

A campaign to highlight domestic violence has prompted many victims to speak out for the first time, according to the organisation behind the initiative.

A campaign to highlight domestic violence has prompted many victims to speak out for the first time, according to the organisation behind the initiative.

Women's Aid said its End the Silence radio and television ads had coincided with an increase of almost 20% in the number of calls to its freephone helpline.

It said many of these were people who had contacted the service for the first time.
