Asia appeal cash stolen from Mayo church

Gardaí in Co Mayo have appealed for witnesses to a robbery of money collected for the Asian tsunami appeal.

The money was stolen during a burglary at St Patrick's church in Ballyhaunis yesterday afternoon.

The thieves took a significant amount of partially-counted cash and coins from a safe at the church.

Gardaí want to speak to anyone who saw suspicious activity around the church at around 2pm or 3pm yesterday.
