Designer bag auction to raise cancer funds

Boots Ireland is to hold a designer bag auction to raise funds for Action Breast Cancer (ABC), a project of the Irish Cancer Society, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Seven Irish designers have donated a bag to the auction, which are all currently on display in Boots in its Grafton Street outlet.

John Rocha, Helen Cody, Edmond Chesneau, Christina Walsh and Aishling McLoughlin have specially designed a pink-themed bag for the auction whilst Orla Kiely and Philip Treacy both donated a bag from their current collection.

This is the fifth year that Boots have supported Breast Cancer Awareness Month with their 'Be Up Front' campaign, during which they have raised over €300,000 for the charity.

All proceeds from the Boots Designer Bag Auction will go directly to Action Breast Cancer to fund a range of services offered to the public free of charge.

All bags in the Boots Designer Bag Auction will be on display in the window of the Boots store in Dublin until Friday October 29.

This is the fifth year that Boots and Action Breast Cancer (ABC), a national project of the Irish Cancer Society, have joined forces for the 'Be Up Front' campaign.

Irish women have a 1 in 12 chance of developing breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in women in Ireland after non-melanoma skin cancer.
