Local authorities seek meeting with Brennan over Dublin gridlock

The leaders of the four local authorities in Dublin have demanded a meeting with Minister for Transport Sseamus Brennan over the city's chronic traffic congestion.

Lord Mayor Michael Connaghan and his party colleagues from Fingal, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown and South Dublin County Councils have said that the reopening of schools has increased congestion to unprecedented levels.

They want Mr Brennan to introduce measures to facilitate people walking, cycling or car pooling on their daily commute.

The councillors are also seeking an extension of public transport to poorly-served areas.
