Gardaí in Cork have arrested three people in connection with an assault that left two others needing hospital treatment this morning.

Gardaí in Cork have arrested three people in connection with an assault that left two others needing hospital treatment this morning.

The victims, two men in their 20s, were assaulted on Barrack Street and Fort Street at around 3.15am.

Gardaí described the attack as "unprovoked".

Two men and a woman were arrested nearby shortly after the incident and are being questioned at the Bridewell garda station.
