Medical plans unveiled for Bush visit
The Mid-Western Health Board has put plans in place ahead of the visit of the US President George W Bush to Ireland this weekend.
It has announced special contingency measures for hospitals and ambulance staff in the area.
The mid-western regional hospitals in Ennis and Limerick have been designated to receive casualties from any possible incidents.
Arrangements have been made for extra beds while extra medical and nursing staff will also be put on call.
A special emergency medical centre will be put in place near Shannon Airport manned by emergency medical technicians.
This will deal with minor injuries and triage which will segregate more serious injuries for treatment in hospital.
A chemical de-contamination unit will also be located beside the emergency medical centre.
