‘Greater co-operation needed between domestic violence agencies’

A report commissioned by the North-Eastern Health Board has recommended greater co-operation between agencies dealing with female victims of violence.

The report also recommended that the staff of such agencies improve their attitudes towards victims, recognise the special needs of marginalised women and make families more aware of how they can support victims.

The report also said the health board should establish a treatment programme for men responsible for violence against women.

Around 2,500 female victims of violence seek help in the North Eastern Health Board’s jurisdiction every year.
