'2,500 went missing at some stage this year'

2,500 Irish people are thought to have gone missing at some stage in the past year, it was revealed today.

2,500 Irish people are thought to have gone missing at some stage in the past year, it was revealed today.

Most of these people are eventually traced, but about 5% never make contact with their families, according to the Missing in Ireland Support Service.

The service helps people whose loved ones go missing.
