'Mad Dog' Adair's son arrested in drugs raid
The son of loyalist terrorist Johnny “Mad Dog” Adair was arrested today on suspicion of drugs offences.
Jonathan Adair, 19, was arrested along with a 22-year-old man at an hotel off the M61 in Anderton, Lancashire, England.
The operation was part of a series of drug raids in the Bolton area.
Officers also arrested a 13-year-old boy, a 40-year-old man and two women, aged 32 and 18.
Imitation firearms including a fake M16 machine gun and four fake handguns, were seized during the raids.
Bolton CID launched an investigation, codenamed Operation Margate, in September, into alleged drug dealing by associates of Johnny Adair who live in the area.
Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Dave Lea said: “As well as targeting drug dealers, today’s operation aims to send a reassurance message to the community that we are responding to their concerns and taking positive action.
“I want to send a message to criminals operating in Bolton, that it does not matter who you are, or who you think you are, we are on to you and you will be caught.”
Adair’s wife, Gina, moved to Bolton with her four children in March to escape loyalist in-fighting.
