UDA blamed for attack on former associate
The Ulster Defence Association has been blamed for carrying out an attack on the home of one its former associates near Lisburn, Co Antrim, last week.
Security equipment, including a camera and intercom, was damaged in the attack on Davy Adams’ home last Thursday.
Mr Adams was a leading figure in the now defunct Ulster Democratic Party, which was the political wing of the UDA until its disbandment a number of years ago.
Some UDA members are believed to be opposed to Mr Adams’ membership of the local district policing partnership in Lisburn.
The UDA also apparently refused Mr Adams permission to speak at the Progressive Unionist Party conference in Belfast at the weekend.
The loyalist paramilitary organisation has also allegedly made threats against a drugs awareness project in Lisburn managed by another former UDP member, Gary McMichael.
Both Mr McMichael and Mr Adams have declined to comment on the matter.
