Protestors call for release of Higgins and Daly

More than 500 anti-bin tax campaigners mounted a protest outside the Dáil yesterday evening calling for the scrapping of the controversial tax and the release of Socialist Party TD Joe Higgins and councillor Clare Daly.

The pair were jailed for a month two weeks ago after refusing to abide by a High Court injunction ordering bin tax protestors not to obstruct refuse collections in the Fingal County Council area of Dublin.
