IFA wants transport proposals abolished
The IFA has demanded that EU Commissioner David Byrne drop transport proposals which it claims would hit this country’s market in live cattle exports.
The association has been demonstrating outside Leinster House where Mr Byrne was addressing a meeting of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture.
Derek Deane of the IFA Livestock Committee said the association was totally opposed to EU plans to abolish so called staging posts, where cattle could rest.
