The Government has announced plans to provide €19m in funding for construction work on fire stations in six towns.

The Government has announced plans to provide €19m in funding for construction work on fire stations in six towns.

The money will be used to fund the completion of work on stations in Ardmore, Bunclody, Killybegs, Kinsale and Westport and the construction of an extension to Tralee fire headquarters.

The funding will come from the Fire Services Capital Programme. The Government has also given 15 fire authorities permission to buy 20 new fire engines at a cost of €6m.
