Farmers occupy government office in Galway
A group of around 20 farmers has occupied the offices of the Department of Agriculture in Galway.
The farmers said they undertook the action because they cannot get ID cards needed to sell cattle due to a strike by clerical workers in the department.
Michael Silke, a spokesman for the Irish Farmers Association, said: "An enormous number of farmers are caught in a Catch 22 situation and they simply cannot get their identity cards back from this department to sell their cattle."
