The Alzheimer Society of Ireland has launched a campaign to raise public awareness of the disease, which it said is greatly under-diagnosed.

The ASI said 86% of people questioned as part of a survey recognised forgetfulness as the main symptom of Alzheimer's disease, but ignored other symptoms such as behavioural changes, depression and declines in personality.
