Restaurants set to introduce fixed price menu

Dining out may be about to come down in price. The Restaurant's Association of Ireland has announced plans to combat the rising cost of paying the bill.

Plans are afoot to introduce a tourist or fixed price menu for anyone in over 500 restaurants nationwide.

Association President, Tom Mythen, says the choice will be similar to equivalent menus in use on the continent.

"It will certainly always contain a starter, a main course, possibly a desert with possibly a choice of having a desert or starter. Tea or coffee will probably be optional. It will high quality, good class. It is not just for the tourist market but our local market as well."
