Shots fired at loyalist councillor's house

A loyalist councillor has escaped injury after shots were fired at his home on the outskirts of north Belfast last night.

Tommy Kirkham, a member of the Ulster Political Research Group, which has links with the UDA, was in the house on Richmond Road in Carnmoney with his son at the time of the attack.

Shots were also reportedly fired in the Crumlin Road and Rathcoole areas last night, but there were no reports of any injuries.

All the attacks are believed to be linked to an increasingly violent feud between the UDA leadership and the commander of its notorious "C" company in west Belfast, Johnny Adair, who was expelled from the organisation three months ago.
