The Cabinet has approved proposals for a scheme of statutory investigations into allegations of clerical sex abuse in the Dublin Archdiocese.

The Cabinet has approved proposals for a scheme of statutory investigations into allegations of clerical sex abuse in the Dublin Archdiocese.

Announcing the scheme, Justice Minister Michael McDowell said it will encourage voluntary co-operation but will have extensive powers to deal with situations where such co-operation is not forthcoming.
