Figs show 230 arrested weekly for drink driving

New figures released today show that 230 motorists were arrested each week last year for drink driving.

The figures were released by the National Safety Council today to launch their annual Christmas campaign against drink driving.

Chief Executive of the council Pat Costello insists the numbers show that anyone driving under the influence is likely to be caught.

He says that 91% of the people arrested were over the limit and 58% were over twice the legal limit.
