Labour's youth wing meet in Limerick
The annual conference of Labour youth takes place in Limerick this weekend where young party activists, will give their views on the direction in which they want the party to be taken.
The new party leader Pat Rabitte has set himself the task of expanding the party's membership as a key priority.
Youth spokesman, James Houlihan, said that there are a sizeable number of people looking to Labour to provide an alternative.
"We want to be a more campaigning party getting involved in issues, grass roots, getting more into the communities and finding out what people's problems are and why people feel they are disenfranchised from the channel of politics. Hopefully we will actually get these people back into politics," he said.
